Winners of NW chemicals awards announced

KIRKBY-based silver nitrates company Ames Goldsmith and Daresbury-based infection control products firm Byotrol were among the winners at last night’s 2012 Chemicals Northwest Awards.
Byotrol won the Innovation award while Ames Goldsmith won the Manufacturing Business prize. A Chairman’s special award was given to Tata Chemicals Europe, formerly known as Brunner Mond of Northwich.
Solvay of Warrington and Runcorn’s Acal Energy were jointly awarded the sustainability prize while Multisol won the award for Corporate Social Responsibility. The Innovations Technology Access Centre at Daresbury also won a service award at the event, which took place at the Iperial War Museum North.
Steve Elliott, CEO of the Chemical Industries Association and Chemicals Northwest chairman, said: “The North West chemical industry employs more than 50,000 people and it’s these individuals who are driving growth in the sector, while also working to improve its public image.
