Brother wins responsible business award

BROTHER UK has won a silcer award at Busines Business In The Community’s Corporate Responsibility Index 2012.
It is the first time the Audenshaw-based company has been recognised in the Index, which is in its 10th year. The firm had also previously landed a Queen’s Award for Enterprise for sustainable development in 2011.
The firm has its own recycling plant in Wrexham where it recycles its own consumables and has received a 100/100 scsore for the past six years from The Ethical Company Organisation, which produces The Good Shopping Guide.
It also has a campaign of charitable activities and offers leadership and support to local organisations such as Manchester’s Hallle Orchestra as well as a number of small firms in the Tameside area.
Jayne Broddle, corporate responsibility manager at Brother UK, said: “Sustainability has always been integral to our culture at Brother. The company as a whole and all of the individual members of staff are all fully involved in ongoing initiatives to ensure Brother is as environmentally-friendly as possible. The fact that we are included in the Index is testament to their hard work.”
