Peel retains Carbon Trust standard

PEEL Land and Property has been recertified with the Carbon Trust Standard for successfully measuring, managing and reducing carbon emissions as part of a group-wide application.

The firm managed to achieve an absolute reduction in emissions across its estate by 1.9%

Peel was first awarded the Carbon Trust Standard in February 2009 and in the last two years has managed to cut carbon emissions by over 4,000 tonnes a year through a range of initiatives.

The firm also said that it has been independently verified by the Carbon Trust as scoring the highest rating of the 29 property development and management firms to have been rated to date.

Peel’s Paul Chappels said: “Through our tenant workshops we have set a variety of initiatives and KPIs that have proved of great success in driving down our carbon emissions and very importantly occupational costs.

“We hope the recertification of the Carbon Trust Standard, and our top score, will give our tenants confidence that Peel are working hard to offer first-class accommodation which takes into account the importance of sustainability and the environment.”
