Deals round-up JMW; DTM Legal; Brand Addition

PARTNERS Chris Moss (corporate) and Keith Arrowsmith (intellectual property) from Manchester law firm JMW has advised client Chill Factore on its new attraction, Avalanche.

The paid advised the visitor attraction on contractual and copyright matters for Avalanche,  which is the world’s first snow-sphering activity.

Participants hurtle down Chill Factore indoor ski slope, at speeds of up to 30mph strapped into the giant snow sphere ball.

CHESHIRE and Merseyside law firm DTM Legal has advised two key deals for clients expanding their businesses.

Head of corporate Ed Barnes advised Wrexham-based horse riding helmet manufacturer Charles Owen buy North East-based Airowear, an international supplier of equestrian body protectors.

It also advised engineering and advanced manufacturing specialist Cygnet Group buy a four-acre brownfield plot on the site of the former Cheshire Salt Works in Wincham, Northwich.

The deal will enable Cygnet to create a £6million state-of-the-art design, assembly and machinery testing facility and new company headquarters.

The plot, which surrounds Cygnet Group’s current head office, was bought for £800,000 from Stockport-based Chantry Developments with funding from the Royal Bank of Scotland. Matthew Robinson of DTM Legal’s property team advised on this deal.

HSBC’s North West Corporate Banking team funded the £24m HIG Europe buyout of Trafford Park promotional good company Brand Addition from its listed parent 4imprint Group.

Led by senior corporate banking manager Mark Rowan, HSBC provided £20m of funding, comprising £14m of senior debt and £6m of working capital.

Mr Rowan said: “Already a very successful business, Brand Addition’s continued international growth means it’s essential to have a bank that can support this global expansion.”

Matthew Christmas of DLA Piper advised HSBC. Other advisers were Andy Parker of PwC, Nigel Dale of Eversheds, and Pinsent Mason’s Anna Whetham.
