Tertiary appoints firm for Norwegian survey

Tertiary Minerals has appointed Wardell Armstrong to carry out a scoping study of its Lassedalen fluorspar project in Norway.
The scoping study follows an earlier survey which suggests the prospect has around 4 million tonnes of grading 25% Flourite on th prospect. The study will include a conceptual plant design, capital and operating cost estimates and financial modelling based on the ability to extract at least 60,000 tonnes of acid-grade fluorspar each year. It is set for completing by the summer.
The Lassedalen deposit is close to a European highway and around 40km from the nearest port. Tertiary Minerals has said it is well placed for European export markets as well as an established market within southern Norway where fluorspar is used to make aluminium fluoride for use in large hydro-powered aluminium smelting and refining plants.
Tertiary Minerals’ executive chairman Patrick Cheetham said: “We are pleased to continue our association with Wardell Armstrong and to announce the start of this important preliminary economic study for Lassedalen, our second European fluorspar project.
“Today’s news underlines the Company’s drive to become a major European supplier of fluorspar.”
