Sharks report "unprecendented" interest in move

SALE Sharks’ chief executive Steve Diamond said he was “blown away” by the interest shown by fans in the move to the new Salford City Stadium announced earlier this month.

The club held its first open day at the new £26m, 12,000-seat stadium over weekend, which was attended by almost 2,000 people. The club said this resulted in a record number of season ticket sales, which were being sold all weekend following Friday night’s victory against Bath.

Mr Diamond said: “We were absolutely blown away by the response from the supporters.  We had a few teething problems at first, given the volume of people who turned up.”

The firm will host another open event at Salford City stadium on Wednesday evening, between 5.30pm-7.30pm.
