Accountants hope Chinese solar deal will shine
NORTH West accountancy firm Mitchell Charlesworth has signed a deal to help Chinese renewable energy group Singyes Solar break into the UK market.
Singes Solar, which is listed on the Hong Kong stock exchange and has offices there and at Zhuhai,Guangdong, on the mainland, has annual revenues of around £180m.
Mitchell Charlesworth has offices in Liverpool, Manchester, Chester, Warrington and Widnes has signed a bi-lateral trade agreement with Singyes to provide it with a soft landing package of financial and tax advice as it makes its first steps in these shores.
Steve Foo, a director at the firm, made contact with Singyes Solar during a UKTI trade mission to China last year.
He said: “Singyes Solar is one of the leading green energy manufacturers in Asia. We are advising its directors on entry into the UK and Irish market. Moreover we are using our extensive contacts base to help Singyes Solar partner with construction firms and developers in the UK.”
Singyes Solar designs, fabricates and installs conventional curtain walls and building integrated photo-voltaic systems and smart-grid power systems.
It also produces and sells solar-power products, including cells and solar panels, prefabricated solar houses, solar thermal systems and solar street lamps.
Mr Foo added: “There is massive interest among SMEs in China to do business with their counterparts in the UK. The type of business they want to do includes joint ventures, research and development and mergers and acquisitions.”
