Langsam buys two De Vere hotels

BRITANNIA Hotels boss Alex Langsam has bought two hotels from De Vere Group in a deal worth £20m.

Britannia Hotels has bought the De Vere Daresbury Park Hotel in Warrington and the Royal Bath hotel in Bournemouth.

The acquisitions have been part of a spate of asset purchases by Britannia Hotels over the past two years, which have included the Pontins holidays business, the Scarisbrick Hotel in Southport, the Royal and Clifton Hotels in Scarborough and the Russ Hill hotel near Gatwick airport.

De Vere said the sale follows a strategic review of its portfolio – the outcome of which was a decision to concentrate expansion on its De Vere Venue and De Vere Village hotels brands, as well as capital investment in other hotels.
It added that it remains in talks over the sale of two further properties in Southampton and Cambridge.

Group chief executive Andrew Coppel said: “We are pleased to have successfully disposed of these two properties.

“The proceeds from our disposal programme will go towards funding a range of exciting development opportunities across the Group, building a better De Vere and generating increased value for our stakeholders.”
