Appointments: Equilibrium; Charterfields; CVS; KPMG; and more

WILMSLOW-based Equilibrium Asset Management has made two new appointments to its client management team.

Andrew Hirst has been appointed as chartered financial planner, moving from PKF Financial Planning, and Lucas Jones joins from Honister Capital as client manager.

The new appointments follow Equilibrium’s announcement of surpassing the milestone of £200m worth of assets under its management and the recent opening of a Knutsford office.

Hirst will be working from the new Knutsford office and the head office in Wilmslow. He will be helping to build Equilibrium’s seminar programme providing advice and insight on pensions, investments, intergenerational financial planning and inheritance tax strategies.

Jones will support the advisory team. He is also a qualified chartered financial planner and a member of the Personal Finance Society.

ASSET valuation company Charterfields has expanded in Manchester with the appointment of Paul McCann.

Mr McCann joins from Edward Symmons and has more than 35 years’ experience of valuing plant, machinery and business assets. His appointment is the fourth to be made in the past six months at Charterfields’ Manchester office.

Charterfields director Ian Maycock said: “Paul has extensive experience and will further strengthen our skill base. His appointment increases our Manchester presence and comes just a few months after we extended our insolvency valuation team and launched a property agency service.

“It means we can now provide the complete range of valuation services to our increasing regional client base.”

BUSINESS rates specialist CVS has added 16 new surveyors to its nationwide team over the past two months.

The Trafford Park-based company said it had grown surveyor numbers by 40% as demand increases following a 5.6% nationwide rise in business rates.

New arrivals include former Lambert Smith Hampton associate Simon Hempsall, former GL Hearn and Drivers Jonas Deloitte employee Edward Norton, Nick Jackson, Stephen Philip, Graham Rodin, Andrew Stacey, David Tomlinson and Jonathan Young.

Don Baker, national head of rating at CVS, said: “Many firms are struggling with the increased cost and are looking to get their rates costs down – either by appealing their business rates valuations or taking advantage of the Government’s rates deferral scheme.”

“The direct knock-on from that is an increased demand for expert rates advice and appeals services – demand that CVS is ideally placed to meet.”

CVS now employs 250 staff.

ACCOUNTANCY firm Armstrong Watson has promoted Graham Poles to partner.

Poles has been with the firm since 2002 and provides tax advice to businesses in Cumbria and south-west Scotland.

Armstrong Watson managing partner Paul Dickson said: “I am extremely pleased that Graham is progressing through to partnership with the firm. 

“Graham has added to our tax expertise in Carlisle and Dumfries, resulting in more and more clients choosing us as their business advisers.”

THREE new recruits have been appointed to KPMG’s Life Actuarial team in Manchester.

The recruits – Jane Parker, Gary Martin and Danny Hurley – have all joined as senior managers and take numbers in the team up to ten.

THE Farjo Medical Centre has expanded its team with the appointment of Dr Vishal Madan Dr Madan will join the Manchester-based surgery – co-founded and run by Medical Director of the Institute of Trichologists, Dr Bessam Farjo – as a hair restoration surgeon.

Dr Farjo said: “Following the surge in procedures amongst male celebrities it’s now seen as acceptable to do something about hair loss. We’ve seen a rapid increase in enquiries and demand for hair transplants, helped by the likes of Wayne Rooney and Louis Walsh, and the procedure has never been so popular!

“We’re confident that Dr Madan’s special interest in procedural dermatology and enthusiasm for finding solutions to hair loss will enhance the team here at the Farjo Medical Centre.”
