Blackpool Yates’s site to be redeveloped

MANCHESTER-based Archer Architects has been appointed by Northhold Group to design a new 23,000 sq ft mixed use retail and restaurant scheme facing Blackpool’s North Pier.
The £3m scheme is set to be built on a prominent site of the former Yates Wine Lodge on Talbot Square, which is currently derelict following a fire three years ago. The scheme is set to include 3,000 sq ft of retail and an 8,000 sq ft restaurant has been submitted.
Darren Friston, associate director of Archer Architects, said: “We are working very closely with Blackpool Council to ensure that we deliver a scheme that will further enhance this popular area of Blackpool.
“Our designs have incorporated the original features of the previous building including the curved balconies and portholes whilst creating an attractive modern new landmark that overlooks the Pier.”
A planning decision is expected to be made on the proposed scheme later this month.
