Appointments: Ex-CFS exec joins O’Connors; Taylors & more

LIVERPOOL law firm O’Connors has appointed Mark Broadhead, the former head of legal services and governance at Manchester’s Co-operative Financial Services, as non-executive chairman.
The boutique firm said the appointment is part of its strategy of positioning itself as lead adviser to successful and growing businesses in the financial services, commercial and legal sectors.
Mr Broadhead said: “I have known the O’Connors team for many years, both as business friends and as advisers, and I am hugely excited by the opportunity to play a role in the firm’s future development.

NORTH West law firm Taylors has appointed Grahame Love as an associate in its insolvency and business recovery team, headed by partner Andrew Livesey.
Mr Love, who will be based in the Blackburn firm’s Manchester office joins from Turner Parkinson.
He qualified in 2003 at a firm in Milton Keynes and moved to the North West eight years ago.
He said: “I am thrilled to come to work with Andrew in this well established and respected Insolvency team and am confident that my skills and existing practice will dove-tail well.”

LANCASHIRE law firm Harrison Drury has added lawyer Karen Piontek to its commercial property team.
She joins Harrison Drury, which has offices in Preston and Garstang, from Lawson Taylor LLP in East Lancashire where she was head of property.
Commercial property partner Owen McKenna said: “Karen is an experienced lawyer having led the property team at several regional law firms and her drive and commitment to business development has resulted in a network of professional contacts throughout Lancashire. Her appointment will further strengthen the team.”

MANCHESTER-based property consultancy WHR has added three new people to its team. John Edwards, formerly joint head of building and project management services at DTZ, has set up WHR’s new building division and is joined by his former colleague, Alan Watson, as senior surveyor in the building team.
Also, Graham Aitkenhead has joined from Gerald Eve to become a partner in WHR’s professional team.
Mr Edwards said: “WHR has a very strong reputation within the property industry with an impressive client list, which complements our existing high profile clients who include Wilson Bowden Developments and AIB International. I am very excited to have this opportunity to provide another level of service for the firm.”
