Osborne key speaker as Cheshire LEP puts case to Parliament

CHANCELLOR George Osborne will be the keynote speaker at a high-profile event in Westminster today highlighting the growth strategy being undertaken by Cheshire & Warrington’s Local Enterprise Partnership.

Mr Osborne, who is MP for Tatton, will also highlight the many positive economic initiatives which are already taking place across Cheshire and Warrington as part of a ‘Cheshire Day’ event being co-hosted by Cheshire & Warrington’s LEP and Congleton MP Fiona Bruce.

The event will be attended by government ministers, Cheshire and Warrington MPs and senior business leaders from across the area.

Ms Bruce said: “Our ambition is for Cheshire and Warrington to be the best-performing economy outside the Greater South East and the preferred location for business.

“Representatives will be highlighting Cheshire and Warrington’s excellent quality of life, exciting business developments, outstanding visitor attractions and high standard of educational provision, all of which are available right across the county.”

The event follows on from the launch of the LEPs three-year growth plan last month.

Christine Gaskell, chair of Cheshire and Warrington LEP, said: “Cheshire Day in Parliament will allow us to inform key decision-makers about all the region has to offer and why it is such a great place to invest, visit, live, study and meet in.”

She said the area had a £22bn economy and the leadership, infrastructure and skills in place “to realise our ambitions to grow our economy even further”.
