Vision highlights year of success

LIVERPOOL Vision has published a copy of its annual review highlighting some of the successes it achieved over the past 12 months.

The organisation, which is the economic development body for the city of Liverpool and is funded by the local council, said that it secured £23.5m from the Regional Growth Fund for a City Fringe bid that included cash to facilitate the rehabilitation of buildings at Stanley Dock.

It also pointed to the staging of the Global Entrepreneurship Congress featuring Sir Richard Branson and former Tesco chief Sir Terry Leahy which attracted 3,500 delegates from 125 countries. It also set up offices in the US and China, and helped to create more than 100 new businesses and 400 jobs in the city.

Mike Parker, chairman of Liverpool Vision, said: “Liverpool Vision has had another outstanding year, both in the way we have faced our challenges and in the way we have showcased the city’s excellence and ambition.

“One major highlight of the year was the GEC in March when we put the Liverpool stamp on this prestigious event and created the world’s largest ever gathering of start-up champions.

He added that “much is still to be done to improve the quality of Liverpool’s physical and business environment”.

“Liverpool Vision will remain in the vanguard of this work with an increasing focus in North Liverpool and in the knowledge economy.”
