First Street South scheme edges closer

ASK Property Developments is bringing forward a planning application for the southern end of its First Street site in Manchester city centre.

A public consultation exercise on plans for the 2.6 acre site to the south of its Number One First Street building has just closed. The plans, which have been brought forward by Drivers Jonas Deloitte, include a new tower block containing a foodstore, a hotel, student bedrooms, offices, a car park  and some ground floor commercial units. New public realm will also be included to link the site to the cultural hub, hotels and leisure being built at the northern end of First St.
Michele Steel, director at Drivers Jonas Deloitte, said: “The First Street South development is critical to the regeneration of First Street, which in itself is fundamental to the future economy of Manchester city centre and the wider region.
“The proposals represent the next important phase of development at First Street, which can become the heart and focus of a distinctive new mixed use, office-led neighbourhood.
“We will carefully consider the feedback we have received alongside our Environmental Impact Assessment and Retail Assessment before finalising and submitting an application in the near future.”
