Mondiale buys Strawberry Studios
STOCKPORT-based publisher Mondiale has bought the Strawberry Studios building which houses its Imagine FM radio station.
Mondiale, which is owned by Damian Walsh, publishes a series of trade titles aimed focussing on sound equipment for the nightclub industry, architectural lighting and a hotels business magazine known as Sleeper.
It acquired Imagine FM in 2009.
Mr Walsh said: “I am delighted with the acquisition. Strawberry Studios is one Stockport’s best known buildings.”
The studios based on Waterloo Road, were the first of their kind to be built outside London. Artists to have recorded at the studios include 10cc, Paul McCartney, Joy Division, The Smiths and The Stone Roses.
In the early 1990s the studios were converted into offices, which are now occupied by a number of businesses.
The company was advised on the deal by Gorvins’ managing partner and head of commercial property, Lorraine Lockie.
