Boodles launches first e-commerce website

BOODLES, the family-owned jeweller has launched its first transactional website, allowing customers to buy as well as view its range of gems.

The company, founded in Liverpool in 1798 hopes the new site will expand its international distribution.

As well as buying off the shelf items, clients will also be able to view and order bespoke jewellery from Boodles’ archive of one-off designs. The site boasts a wish-list facility, enabling shoppers to bookmark their favourite items, and share them with family and friends.

Writing on the company’s blog, director and head of digital James Amos said: “This is a big moment for Boodles – we have been selling jewellery in our shops for 214 years (since 1798) and we have always been rather traditional.

“We’re an old fashioned British family business through and through. But, we often say that one of the key reasons we have survived through more than two centuries and a few world wars is because we have been very receptive to change.”
