Administrators close Lancs housebuilder

A HOUSEBUILDER which was developing sites in its home county of Lancashire and Cheshire has been placed into administration.

Chelford Properties and its sister company Chelford Developments had been developing schemes at Bury, Bispham, Blackpool, Crewe and St Helens, among others.

The businesses, which were based at Euxton run by director Graham Gemson, were placed into administration on June 15, with Toby Underwood and Lyn Vardy from PwC appointed as joint administrators.

Both firms have since ceased to trade and 13 employees have been made redundant. A spokeswoman from PwC said that their decline had been “predominantly due to the downturn in the UK property market”.

“The administrators are now in the process of contacting all affected creditors and assessing the options for the company’s development sites and their other property assets,” she added.
