Russells completes Travelodge Loughborough

MANCHESTER-based Russells Construction has completed the construction of a £5.2m Travelodge hotel in Loughborough.
The 87-room Bridge Street hotel – named Loughborough Central Travelodge – is part of a wider regeneration programme. Located on a previously derelict site on the banks of the Grand Union canal, the project is the second part of a two-phase regeneration scheme for The Wharf development, which already includes new student accommodation, restaurants, public open space and the improvement of the boating facilities.
Commissioned by H2O Urban – a national joint venture between British Waterways and private developer bloc – the seven-storey hotel was designed by Hall Needham Architects and includes a 4,900 sq ft ground floor commercial unit. Russells undertook the new build programme over 12 months.
Construction director Gareth Russell said: “It’s always very satisfying to see a project come to fruition, particularly a regeneration scheme which brings such benefits to the area. We’re pleased to have delivered the development on time and on budget, allowing Travelodge to begin operation as scheduled.”
