3M’s Wild to lead James Cropper after Lewis stands down

CUMBRIAN paper and materials group James Cropper has appointed former 3M executive Phil Wild as chief executive after long-serving ceo Alun Lewis stepped down.

Mr Wild, who is currently based in Cheshire, will take up his new role in early October, when he will join the board of the AIM-listed Kendal company. Until then, chairman Mark Cropper, will act as interim chief executive.

Yorkshire-born Mr Wild has more than 20 years’ commercial and manufacturing experience in industrial, healthcare and security markets.  

Most recently he was the managing director for 3M Security Printing and Systems, business director of 3M Cogent Systems GmbH and EMEA business director for 3M Security Systems Division.

He said “I am delighted to be joining James Cropper and am confident the organisation can build on its solid foundations and prosper in global markets across all its business units.”

Commenting on Mr Lewis’ departure, Mark Cropper said: “Alun was instrumental in the growth and success of our James Cropper Converting subsidiary and as CEO he has spearheaded our drive for continuous investment and improvement’.
