Walsh buys into festival business

STOCKPORT entrepreneur Damian Walsh has acquired a majority stake in Festival Awards, which runs an annual awards ceremony celebrating the festival scene.

Walsh’s business Mondiale, publishes a series of trade titles and owns Imagine FM. Earlier in the summer he bought Stockport’s famouse Strawberry Studios building.

In a statement he said: “We are delighted to have acquired the stake in Festival Awards. We have big ambitions for the awards and are looking forward to taking the event to the next level in the UK and Europe.”

Launched in 2004 the Festival Awards has grown into a major event held at The Roundhouse in London.

Christian Mancier of Stockport law firm Gorvins advised on the acquisition.
