First look at Muse’s ‘puzzle box’ building

SALFORD developer Muse has release the first image of its ‘puzzle box’ building planned for Manchester’s Northern Quarter.
The residential-led scheme was approved at a planning meeting last week.
The latest phase in the redevelopment of the area around the old Smithfield market, it will have 77 new one, two and three-bedroom apartments and 6,000 sq ft of commercial space on the ground floor.
According to a planning document the building will have the look of a puzzle box with “interlocking forms and projecting volumes”, and it will be clad in silver and black panels with brightly coloured balconies.
Wes Erlam, senior development surveyor Muse Developments said: “We’re incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved at Smithfield over the last 10 years which has paved the way for the revival of the Northern Quarter into one of the most creative and vibrant areas of Manchester city centre.
“We now look forward to delivering this next phase of development and enhancing this unique part of the city centre.”
