Appointments: New FD for NWF; Fowler in at Cowgill Holloway

NWF Group, the food and fuel distribution business based near Nantwich, has appointed a new finance director.
Brendon Banner, 39, has been hired from the Bury-based structural steel firm William Hare where he held the same post.
He will start in November, replacing Johnathan Ford who will leave next month to become the chief financial officer at emergency insurance firm Homeserve.
Mr Banner qualified as a chartered accountant in 1997 and spent five years at KPMG working in transaction services and corporate finance. He has been in working in industry for the last nine years.
NWF chief executive, Richard Whiting, said: “I am delighted that Brendon will be joining us. He has a breadth of experience and capability to support the development of NWF over the coming years. I look forward to working closely with Brendon and welcoming him to the NWF board.”

NORTH West accoutants Cowgill Holloway has appointed John Fowler as corporate finance director and head of its Liverpool office.
Mr Fowler, an experienced dealmaker, is replacing Mark Borzomato who is leaving the firm to return to the private equity sector. Mr Borzomato has spent over two years developing and growing the Liverpool practice and will step down from his role at the end of this month.
Prior to joining Cowgill Holloway John Fowler has completed an interim role where he was involved with leading the post merger integration of the UK arm of US-listed company Scientific Games Company Inc with Barcrest.
He says: “The role is a fantastic opportunity to be a driving force in Cowgill Holloway’s expanding corporate finance activities. The firm’s presence in Merseyside has shown incredible growth in the last three years and I am delighted to be an integral part of the firm’s ongoing commitment to expand its offering in this region.
“I’m really looking forward to working with the team, as well as further exploring the opportunities that this incredibly vibrant region has to offer.”
The appointment coincides with firm relocating from The Plaza to new office space at Yorkshire House on Chapel Street in Liverpool.
Also joining the corporate finance team is James Hindle, a manager who will work alongside corporate finance partner, Paul Stringer in the Manchester office. Mr Hindle joins from Beever & Struthers where he spent nine years.
