Loftus pleased with Deloitte’s performance

DELOITTE North West senior partner Patrick Loftus says the firm’s 2% increase in revenues to £123m is a “pleasing performance” in a challenging market place.

The Big Four accountany firm, which employs 850 at its Manchester and Liverpool offices, said it had seen growth across all four business divisions in the year to the end of May.

Mr Loftus said: “All areas of the practice are demonstrating growth and we remain committed to working with our strong and ambitious client base in the region.

“Our priorities are offering clients a distinctive experience, and investing in talent for the future.  As a business leader, I look at the role we can play in driving economic growth and rebuilding economic prosperity across the region.”

In the North West the firm is recruiting 60 graduates, has promoted seven directors and corporate recovery specialist Dan Smith to partner, raised £200,000 for charity, and won several new audit clients.

Mr Loftus added: “Investing in skills and talent is a signal of confidence, and critical to supporting our clients at a time when the outlook for all businesses remains challenging.”

New audit clients include listed duo Assura and technical tapes manufacturer Scapa.

The firm said Mr Loftus had been appointed as a non-executive director of the Christie NHS Foundation Trust, Manchester, and Manchester-based Sharon Fraser, managing partner for regional markets, had become a trustee of the Prostate Cancer Charity.
