Appointments: Mirza heads ENER-G housing arm, plus Napthens, Hurst and AWES and Manchester Camerata

JENNIFER Hayhurst has joined the residential property department at Lancashire law firm Napthens.

Ms Hayhurst, of Lancaster, joins from Blackhurst Swainson Goodier in Preston where she trained and qualified as a solicitor.

She specialises in residential sales, purchases and remortgages but assists in all aspects of the conveyancing process.

She said: “The Residential Property team at Napthens has a fantastic reputation and I am looking forward to becoming a key part of the team.”

Sarah Barnes, head of the department, said: “The residential property sector remains busy and it is positive news for our clients that we have been able to strengthen the team in this way.”

Napthens has offices in Preston and Blackpool.

NORTH WEST accountancy firm Hurst has bolstered its tax team.

Elizabeth Gallagher has joined from accountancy and professional services firm ASE where she worked for 14 years, heading the tax advisory and compliance team.

She will work with a range of clients, from owner-managed businesses to listed international groups.

Rachel Murphy, who heads the seven-strong tax team, said: “It’s been a busy year for the tax team and we’ve attracted an increasing number of clients, including many international businesses. 

“Liz brings a host of experience to the team and will be a real asset, helping ensure our clients manage their tax efficiently, guiding them through what is becoming ever more complex tax legislation and reach their full growth potential.”

Hurst has three offices in Manchester, Stockport and London.

Zia Mirza, ENER-GSALFORD-based green energy group ENER-G has appointed Zia Mirza as development director in its new housing division.

The housing arm will seek to help the social housing sector comply with new climate change legislation and deliver affordable energy through low carbon community energy networks.

Mr Mirza was head of delivery at Manchester engineer the Hyde Group where he partnered with ENER-G to help deliver community energy centres in London. 

He said: “Affordable housing providers have been thrust into the driving seat to deliver decentralised energy networks.

“My personal experience has shown me how complex it is to manage such  schemes. By combining my client-side experience with the comprehensive systems, technology and financial capabilities of ENER-G, we can guide housing providers through the complete process.”

AINSCOUGH Wind Energy Services (AWES), part of the Ainscough Crane Hire Group, has appointed Steve Wathen as commercial director.
 
Mr Wathen will be responsible for managing all aspects of the company’s commercial activities including driving growth

through sales, productivity and service offering. He will be based at AWES’ regional office in Standish.
 
AWES puts up and maintains wind turbines. It was established when Ainscough Crane Hire bought Windcon Energy Services in late 2011.

Mr Wathen said: “AWES forms a major part of the wider Ainscough business and we have exciting plans to grow our market share in the wind energy sector. I am very much looking forward to driving this new, specialist division of the business forward.”

Paul Flowers with principal horn Naomi Atherton camerataPAUL Flowers, chair of the board of the Co-operative Banking Group, has been appointed to chair the Manchester Camerata in its 40th anniversary season.

He succeeds Geoffrey Shindler who has been the chairman of the orchestra since 2007.

Mr Flowers said: “Manchester Camerata is not soft, fluffy, or stuck up. It’s an orchestra that makes a real difference to people’s lives and does fantastic work with young people and disadvantaged communities.”
