£12m for ultra-fast broadband in Manchester

THE Government has confirmed Manchester will receive £12m to roll out a new ultra-fast broadband network.
Manchester was first promised a share of a £114m fund to support the project in the Budget in March and the commitment was also included in the city deal announced in July.
Culture Secretary Maria Miller said: “Fast broadband is essential for growth, and is key to the country’s economic future.
“Manchester has produced an ambitious and comprehensive plan, which will turn it into a digital leaders and give the local economy a real boost.”
Other recipients were: Leeds and Bradford, London, Belfast, Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Edinburgh and Newcastle.
