Code’s Foggett to chair Manchester Digital

THE founder and chief executive of Code Computerlove, the digital agency, has been appointed the new chairman of Manchester Digital – the sector’s trade body in the city.
Tony Foggett has taken over from Shaun Fensom, who has chaired the orhanisation for nine years, and who is becoming secretary and retaining responibility for the annual Big Chip Awards.
Mr Foggett has been involved with Manchester Digital since 2003, and is a passionate advocate for the sector.
He said: ““I’ve seen Manchester Digital develop through many phases and I’m honoured to be given the opportunity to take the organisation through another step-change in its evolution.”
“The digital community in the North West has always been incredibly strong and developments such as MediaCity are opening new opportunities for our members. The spotlight has been turned on the region and now is our chance to make this city and the North West famous for its digital excellence.”
His goal is to bring added commercial focus to the organisation, which is currently run by volunteers.
He said:”The fact that Manchester Digital was formed from, and is run by the digital community, means we are in unique position to represent and broker relationships with the industry, especially at a time when the disappearance of government funded sector bodies such as the NWDA and Vision + Media has left a void in support.
“Our delivery role will continue to ensure our members have everything they need to thrive, whether it be talent development, insight or simply profile and networking opportunities. But if we are to step up our output for members then we need to build on moving Manchester Digital away from a volunteer reliant organisation.
“I hope I can bring the commercial focus to help with the transition into a sustainable commercial entity.”
