Profits double at Riverford

FRUIT and vegetable delivery firm Riverford Organic says it has doubled profits over the past year.

The business, which supplies customers across the North West through a network of franchisees, said profits grew from £508,000 to £1.23m. Sales were up 6% to £41.8m.

According to the Devon-based group the organic home delivery and mail order market was worth £167m last year, up 7.2%.

One of the North West franchisees is Stockley Farm near Northwich.

It began selling organic vegetables in 2002 and joined forces with Riverford in September 2008.
