Government ‘planning Urenco sale’

THE government is said to be looking to off-load its one-third stake in the Chester-based nuclear business Urenco.
According to Sky News, officials have rubber-stamped the appointment of Morgan Stanley to weigh up the government’s options.
The business, which makes enriched uranium, is jointly owned with the Dutch government, which also has a third, and the German energy companies RWE and EON.
A report published last November suggested the Dutch government had appointed advisers with a view to engineering a float or a sale of the business. A price tag of £3bn was mooted.
