MANCHESTER law firm Glaisyers has advised Odd Bar entrepreneur Cleo Farman on her latest venture, The Blue Pig bar and restaurant.

Launched in August on the High Street in Manchester’s Northern Quarter, the Parisian-themed bar and restaurant is the latest addition to her portfolio of ‘Odd’, ‘Odder’ and ‘Oddest’ bars.

Eric Quirk, retail and commercial property partner at Glaisyers said: “We advised Cleo on the conditional agreement and the lease terms, including a fixed service charge and multiple break options. We also advised on construction issues and liaised with the planning consultant.

“It’s great to see that, despite the economic climate, we are still able to advise on projects like this that demonstrate that the entrepreneurial spirit still shines through in the region.”

Ms Farman, managing director of the Odd Bar group, said: “Working with Glaisyers is so refreshing – not the usual stuffy law firm!

“The new bar is going even better than expected. It’s receiving excellent reviews, in particular the ‘333 Restaurant Menu’ and our deli counter, which are both proving to be extremely popular. The Blue Pig has found its own niche in the Northern Quarter as a whole.”

WIRRAL-based Riverview Law was described as a “stand-out” firm in the legal industry pioneers category at the FT Innovative Lawyers Awards 2012.

Overall, the firm came second out of the shortlist of 13 legal businesses.

The firm launched in February and says it wants to change the way businesses use, measure and buy legal services by introducing fixed-price annual and multi-year contracts.

Chief executive, Karl Chapman, said: “We believe the real winners from the changes occurring in the legal market are customers. Indeed, we believe that one of the reasons we received this recognition is because we are delivering on the promise of higher quality, lower priced, fixed fee legal advice. Something we will continue to do.”
