East Lancs law firms merge

TWO of East Lancashire’s oldest law firms, Woodcocks and Haworth and Nuttall, have merged.

Woodcocks senior partner Dave McCann said the merged business would be able to offer a wider range of services, and serve a much wider area.

Woodcocks, which can trace it roots back to 1791, has offices in Bury and Rossendale, while Haworth and Nuttall, which dates back to 1877, has offices in Blackburn, Accrington and Great Harwood.

Both firms handle commercial law as well as conveyancing, family and personal injury.

Mr McCann said: “This merger represents a real step forward for both businesses and our respective clients. It will strengthen our core businesses and widen our geographical footprint. The reality is that both firms will be stronger as a result of this merger.”

There will be no job losses and the names of the firms will be retained.

David McCraith of Haworth and Nuttall said: “There are a number of synergies between the two firms – both have been built on the back of the first class professional service we provide. We will have greater depth across all offices, with specialist solicitors undertaking the work.”
