Oldham takes investment roadshow to London

SENIOR figures from Oldham Council are taking the town’s case to London on Wednesday.
They are holding an Invest in Oldham event at The National Theatre at South Bank, London on 17 October.
Council leader Cllr Jim McMahon and chief executive Charlie Parker will deliver keynote speeches and sport and tourism minister Hugh Robertson will champion Oldham’s plans for Hotel Future.
The scheme, which is proposed for an existing surface car park space next to the civic centre and the Queen Elizabeth Centre, involves the creation of a new 120-bed hotel, a lecture theatre, teaching space and the creation of a new civic square.
Mr McMahon said: “Our aim is to get investors to see Oldham differently – as a place with excellent infrastructure and opportunities, but also as a place with a real commitment to making things happen.”
He added: “We have an ‘open door’ policy and the examples we will showcase demonstrate we’re prepared to work quickly and co-operatively with partners to take decisions, get results that improve our Borough, and create new jobs and opportunities.”
