Ainscough bags prime Cheshire development site

AINSCOUGH Strategic Land (ASL) has bought a 17-acre site near Macclesfield where it plans to build housing.
It bought the open land between Manchester Road and Tytherington Business Park from Allied Irish Bank. The value of the deal was not disclosed.
The firm is now carrying out a consultation with nearby residents about its plans for 165 two to five-bed homes.
London-based Hadley Development Solutions gained planning consent for a hotel and nine office units in 2010 – despite opposition from residents. The land has been identified in the Macclesfield Town Vision as an area for development.
Paul Martin, land director at ASL, said: “Land of this quality, so close to Prestbury and Bollington on the northern edge of Macclesfield, is an exciting and attractive proposition.
“The site promises to be one of the most prestigious sites in the North West and I fully expect, in due course, to see keen interest in the site from the full range of house builders.”
Leigh-based ASL was set up by Martin Ainscough in 2007 following the £255m sale of his family’s crane business. The company specialises in the acquisition, masterplanning and promotion of land for development throughout the UK. Its portfolio includes 760 acres of development land.
