Co-op’s Angel Square completion delayed

CO-OPERATIVE Group staff will not move into their new headquarters until the New Year, three months later than planned.

The group was due to start moving staff into the £100m building this week but there have delays to the installation and testing of some mechanical, electrical and IT systems.

This work should be finished before Christmas but the Co-op does not want to move staff at such a busy trading period.

Managing director of Co-operative Estates said: “One of the key elements of the moving process is that we maintain business continuity – particularly during the busiest period for our food operation – and as such we will now start the move in the New Year.”

Construction of the 15-storey, 325,000 sq ft headquarters on Miller Street started in July 2010.
