Appliances Online called in for Comet deliveries

ONLINE electrical goods retailer Appliances Online said it is working with white goods manufacturers to make sure orders placed with collapsed retailer Comet are fulfilled.
Bolton-based Applicances Online, owned by DRL, said it had been asked to help complete orders through its own distribution network.
However, customers of Comet, which went into administration on Friday, who made purchases on credit card or via paypal will receive a refund under the Consumer Credit Act 1974.
Chief executive John Roberts said: “The top five manufacturers have now stopped delivering products into Comet and as we operate our own UK-wide storage, distribution and fulfilment company, they approached Appliances Online to act as a rescue service.”
“We understand the pressures and demands of trading in the current economic climate and it is always upsetting when a well-known retailer faces closure. Our priority is to work with manufacturers to ensure that customers who have already committed to a product from Comet still receive their purchase and aren’t unnecessarily worried in the run up to Christmas. We have set up a dedicated helpline to assist customers and have drafted in more staff to help advice those affected.
