Grant Thornton boosts ranks by 92

GRANT Thornton’s North West offices are being boosted by nearly 100 staff on the back of the firm winning a key Audit Commission contract.

The firm has taken on 92 people in its public sector assurance practice in the North West – 50 in Manchester and 42 in Liverpool.

The unit delivers audit services to NHS bodies and local authorities. The firm believes this growth makes it the largest provider of assurance and advisory services to public sector bodies in the region – and in the country as a whole.

Many of the rew recruits have transferred over to GT from the Audit Commission.

Les Ross, managing partner of Grant Thornton in the North West, said: “Grant Thornton is now the clear market leader in assurance and advisory services to local government and NHS organisations in the region, and indeed across the country.

“Our significantly enlarged team means we now have even greater strength and breadth of expertise to provide assurance to the public, and constructive advice to clients right across the public sector.

“This a very exciting time for our dynamic and ambitious regional practice.”

Sarah Howard, Grant Thornton’s national head of public sector assurance, added: “We are absolutely delighted to welcome colleagues from the Commission.  “

“The firm will benefit from the tremendous level of sector expertise and genuine public sector commitment that they bring.”
