Ailing Romida Sports goes to Extra Cover

EXTRA Cover Cricket has acquired Rochdale-based Romida Sports from administrators PKF.
As part of the deal, specialist cricket retailer Extra Cover will reopen the former Romida stores in Brighouse, Newhey and Leatherhead.
Kerry Bailey and Jon Newell of PKF were appointed joint administrators of Romida Sports last month.
Andy Woodard, founder of Extra Cover Cricket, said: “Romida is a great brand and has given customers outstanding service over many years. We look forward to building on this.
“We are delighted to be able to create 12 jobs on the back of this takeover and we look forward to serving Romida’s loyal customers in the future.”
Extra Cover Cricket was founded in Hemel Hempstead in 2010.
Joint Administrator Kerry Bailey, a partner in PKF’s corporate recovery team in Manchester, said: “We believe that the deal represents the best possible outcome and it also ensures three of the former Romida stores will reopen.”
