LANCASHIRE law firm Marsden Rawsthorn has appointed Debbie Pettitt as its first non-solicitor chief executive.

Debbie Pettitt was previously director of business development and marketing for the Preston and Chorley firm.

Her appointment will allow the firm’s partners to concentrate on providing outstanding legal advice and expertise to their clients.

She said: “Over the past few years the legal sector has changed significantly. One of the key developments is the introduction of non-lawyer ownership of legal practices which has led to increased pressure for law firms to operate in a much more commercial way.”

Marsden Rawsthorn employs 85 staff across its two offices in Preston and Chorley.

MERSEYSIDE law firm Brown Turner Ross has appointed Arthur Finlay as head of its private client department.

Mr Finlay has 42 years’ experience in the private client matters across a number of leading North West practices.  He joins from Hill Dickinson where he spent 11 years.

He said: “Brown Turner Ross is a fast-growing and ambitious firm with a wide and varied client base which I am excited to be able to grow over time.”

Brown Turner Ross employs 34 staff across its three offices in Southport, Liverpool and Birkenhead.

HARGREAVES, the leading providers of air movement and ventilation ductwork solutions, has appointed Steve Thomas as operations director.

Mr Thomas will have a key role in liaising directly with project managers and manufacturing departments, as well as co-ordinating engineering, quality control and health and safety teams. He holds an MSc in Mechanical & Engineering Project Management from Loughborough University, has worked in the industry since leaving school, having started work as an apprentice in Manchester.

He has more than 25 years’ experience in the mechanical and electrical engineering industry, operating in a variety of managerial and director roles for local and national organisations as well as overseas work in Australia.

Hargreaves was founded in 1872 in Bury and still operates out of its head office on Lord Street.
