Northern Tech Awards return

THE Northern Tech Awards will return to the Lowry Hotel in Manchester in April.

The awards, now in their third year, recognise the best of the technology industry across the North of England.

At this year’s awards in March Manchester-based mobile apps firm Apadmi was named as the fastest-growing technology company

New categories for 2013 will recognise individual regions, with specific awards for the North West, North East, Yorkshire and Humberside and the Midlands. The deadline for submissions is 31st December 2012.

The judging panel includes Jon Bradford, chief executive of accelerator programme Springboard and Ignite 100, founder of online retailer Dabs.com David Atherton and managing editor of tech news website The Next Web, Martin Bryant.

Awards organiser Manoj Ranaweera, chief executive of Techcelerate, said: “The awards have only been running for two years but have already become a highly anticipated date in the UK technology calendar.

“They are a great platform for celebrating the abundance of talent in the northern tech sector. Entries remain consistently high each year and I am looking forward to seeing all that the region’s tech scene has to offer this year.”
