Henderson Global unveils Ancoats retail plans

HENDERSON Global is planning a long-awaited overhaul of a down-at-heel retail park on the edge of Manchester city centre.
It is preparing a planning application for Central Retail Park in Ancoats, currently home to Mothercare and Toys R Us.
An application for a 50,000 sq ft supermarket, a cinema, six new retail units and the refurbishment of four existing ones should be submitted in the new year.
The plans also include a link from Great Ancoats Street to the new Cotton Field Park, the centre piece of regeneration work in Ancoats.
A document prepared by Turley Associates ahead of a public consultation on December 13 stated that work is expected to begin in the summer and be finished by 2015.
