Bruntwood reveals Blackfriars roof garden plan

BRUNTWOOD is continuing its upgrade of its Manchester estate with plans to create a rooftop garden at Blackfriars House.

Offering tenants panoramic views over the city, the new feature should be ready for use in the summer.

Bruntwood has commissioned architects Roger Stephenson to design the space, which will have lawned break-out areas, timber decking, more than 30 freshly-planted trees and stylish  furniture.

Elements of the landscaping will derive from recycled materials  – such as artificial bark chippings made of shredded and reformed car tyres.

Tenants at Blackfriars House, which is 75% let, include Manchester International Festival, trademark attorneys Wilson Gunn, Radford Advertising, accountants White and Company and media company 3 Door Digital.

Colin Sinclair, director of property marketing at Bruntwood said: “Blackfriars House is a beautiful city centre building which inspires creativity.

“The character space on the banks of the River Irwell in the heart of the city centre is ideal for professional firms as well as media and digital businesses. The roof garden will be a great addition to the building for our customers, with great views over the city.”

As well as upgrading Blackfriars, Bruntwood has improved Manchester One – the new name for Portland Tower.
