Appointments: Co-operative; CVS; Turner Parkinson & more

THE Co-operative Group has boosted its trading property team with the appointment of Jason McEwen to the new role of national investment delivery lead.

Mr McEwen, who is originally from Scotland, but is now based in Cheadle, will manage investment into the Group’s trading business properties, including food stores, funeral homes, pharmacy and bank branches, across the UK.

Before joining The Co-operative, he was a management consultant at Ernst & Young. Before this he worked in Australia for two years.

Stephanie Durbin-Wood, head of capital investment, The Co-operative Group, said: “Jason has a wealth of experience managing major developments and has been involved in several multi-million pound schemes.”

NORTH West accountants CLB Coopers has promoted four of its rising stars.

In the firm’s Manchester office, Andrew Feeke (audit and corporate finance) and Nicola Clarke (business restructuring and insolvency), have moved up from senior managers to associates.

Bolton-based Ian Hargreaves (audit) has also been promoted to associate, while Jenny McCabe, who also works in audit but in Lancaster has become a senior manager.

Managing partner David Travis said: “It is fantastic to be in a position where we can promote our staff to accommodate this growth.”

MANCHESTER business law firm Turner Parkinson has added solicitor Simon Weinberg to its commercial and IP team.

He joins from London practice Matthew Arnold & Baldwin where he worked for two years. He has particular experience in the technology, healthcare and retail sectors, and will work with clients on commercial agreements, outsourcing and intellectual property projects.

Partner Andrew Booth, who leads Turner Parkinson’s commercial and IP team, said:  “Simon’s appointment strengthens our commercial offering and he will be a great asset to our growing team.”

MANCHESTER business rates specialist CVS, has appointed John Hayward as a director of its rating surveyors team in the North East.

He has more than 15 years’ experience advising major retailers, banks, building societies, universities and government departments on rates and property leasing issues.  

In addition Robert Pinks has joined the Old Trafford company as a surveyor in the London and South East office.
