EUPROTEC, the contract research organisation, has expanded its senior management team with the appointment of Dr Pia Thommes as scientific operations director.
Dr Thommes joins the Manchester anti-infective drug discovery and development company from pharmaceutical giant AstraZeneca, where she held a senior position the oncology department.
She said: “Infectious diseases are a huge global problem and there is an increasing need for new anti-infective drugs. I am excited to join such an energetic and growing business that is dedicated to addressing this important issue.”

SENECA Partners has boosed its North West corporate finance team with the appointment of Andrew Stubbs.
Mr Stubbs joins from Grant Thornton in Manchester and previously worked at RBS Private Equity in London.

INDIGO Planning has promoted Daniel Jackson to associate and added two further sentior planners to its team.
Mr Jackson joined the Manchester-based business in 2007 and has particular expertise in advising financial institutions on their portfolios of distressed assets.
The new recruits are Amy James, who has been hired from HOW Plannin, and Jayshree Patel-Astley, who previously worked at Walsingham Planning.

CLAREMONT Group Interiors has appointed Gordon Deas as its first building services manager.
Mr Deas, 41, joins the Warrington company’s contracting team from Kier Construction where he was a building services design manager.
