Vision adds Dubai to international network

LANCASHIRE textiles group Vision Support Services has opened a sales office and showroom in Dubai as it targets growth, particularly in the hotels sector.

The Blackburn-based group, which supplies bedding, towels and curtains, already has a presence in China, Pakistan and Ireland, says the Dubai office should help it win more business in Africa, where more hotels are being opened as part of major developments in countries including Uganda, Tanzania and Rwanda.

The group which owns the Hilden linens brand and Irish heritage brands Lissadell and Liddell – the latter providing the linens for the Titanic’s ill-fated maiden voyage – says it is confident of bouncing back after a challenging 2012.

Chairman Dan Wright told TheBusinessDesk.com: “We are confident of growth this year – last year we substantially reduced our supply into retail and the business is performing nicely.

“We are now focused on providing goods and services to accommodation providers, be they hotels, nursing homes, army barracks, hospitals and even prisons.”

He said Africa was a “big area” for growth, particularly on the hotel supply side.

“We have won contracts with Hilton. Mandarin Oriental, Accorhotels and closer to home Macdonald Hotels.”

In the 12 months to March 31 2012 Vision cut operating losses from £641,494 to £249,559 on turnover down 14% at £24.5m. Mr Wright  expects an improved financial performance in the current year. current year.
