THE industrial team at Jones Lang LaSalle in Manchester has secured five deals totalling 36,000 sq ft at Lawnhurst Trading Estate in Cheadle.
Manchester-based restaurant chain Rice Flame Bar and Grill, has taken 12,443 sq ft at the estate on Bird Hall Lane, where it will operate a storage and distribution centre.
It is joined by automotive parts supplier Inchape, which has taken a 5,888 sq ft unit, global engineering business Honeywell, which will occupy 5,953 sq ft and smart glass manufacturer GlasNovations with a 5,500 sq ft unit.
The new signings join defence electronics supplier Thales which has renewed its lease on the 5,946 sq ft unit which it has occupied since 2005.
Lawnhurst Trading Estate was acquired by Scottish Widows Investment Partnership’s (SWIP) in 2011 and is managed by Centurion Industrial Asset Management.
Michael Jones of Centurion said: “To attract four new occupiers in quick succession, especially of this calibre, and to retain existing occupiers, is a great result. These deals highlight the quality of the refurbishment and reflect the sustained investment the estate is benefitting from.”
Lawnhurst has 200,000 sq ft of space across 16 units. Only three units remain vacant at the site, including Bloc 84 – a 84,000 sq ft warehouse and distribution facility which was refurbished and rebranded at the end of 2012. Jones Lang LaSalle and B8 Real Estate act for the landlord.

WATES Construction has completed the £5.6m redevelopment of the University of Salford’s Chapman Building.
The Surrey-based group, which has operations in Warrington and Wythenshawe, has refurbed the 1960s building, upgrading lecture theatres and other learning areas.
Tony Shenton, business unit director for Wates Construction, North West, said: “We are very proud to have been involved in a project that will improve the provision for students in the city and its completion marks a significant step forward in the University of Salford’s regeneration plans.”
The project is the first phase of the university’s wider campus plan which also includes the new Gateway Building for arts subjects and student accommodation overlooking Peel Park.

FIVE architectural firms have pitched their designs to revamp Everton Park in Liverpool.
Austin Smith Lord, Broadway Malyan, Cass Associates, FVMA and Studio Three, are competing to win the contract for a ‘Destination Hub’ to make the park a major visitor attraction.
The architects showcased their designs at a public event on Wednesday, chaired by Max Steinberg, chief executive of economic development agency Liverpool Vision.
Liverpool Vision’s North Liverpool partnership manager, Richard Tracey said: “Everton Park is and has always been a park of the people, so we are very keen to consult with residents on these innovative and creative designs. It is amazing to see how unique their visions are and I am sure that residents will have a great deal of comments and suggestions on them.”

LIVERPOOL developer Prospect (GB) has secured planning permission for 19 houses at a former Stagecoach bus depot in Glossop.
The 1.3-acre site off York Street in Glossop will include a mix of wo-storey detached, semi-detached and terraced two, three and four-bedroom properties.
The Manchester office of GL Hearn negotiated the acquisition of the site and handled the planning process.
Director Richard Heathcote said: “We are pleased to have been able to assist our clients Prospect GB secure this opportunity to redevelop a redundant former commercial site which will provide much need new family homes in a sustainable location close to the centre of Glossop.”
