Innovation in focus at NW Business Masters 2013
THE inspirational businesses and individuals behind new, exciting and revolutionary products developed in the North West, will be honoured at TheBusinessDesk.com’s Business Masters awards.
The North West Innovator award will be one of six prestigious honours announced at the third Business Masters awards on April 25.
The 2012 Innovator award was the most hotly-contested category, and was won by Warrington-based Belfry Group, pioneer of the EcoPod heating device.
EcoPod was designed by Belfry group’s managing director Keith Rimmer and helps reduce carbon emissions and lower fuel bills in high-rise tower blocks.
The technology is being rolled out across Birmingham as part of a contract worth up to £600m won by its partner Carillion, the preferred bidder for the Birmingham Energy Savers scheme.
Belfry’s success in 2012 meant the Innovator award was won for a second year by a low carbon/green energy company – AIM-listed voltage optimisation firm Vphase won the 2011 award.

Winners will be unveiled at a high profile lunch-time event on April 25 at the Lowry Hotel.
As well as the Innovator award, there are five other categories, all showcasing business excellence in the region. Three contenders will be shortlisted per category.
They are :
North West Ambassador: Greatest contribution to business in the region
North West Pride: Most meaningful philanthropic initiative by a business, organisation or leader
North West Newcomer: Best new business initiative.
North West Exporter: Recognising outstanding success in international markets
North West Manufacturer: The company leading the way in this critical sector
