Brabners Chaffe Street hails ‘strong’ results

COMMERCIAL law firm Brabners Chaffe Street saw strong performance during the last year with fee income and profits rising and staff numbers increasing too.

The firm, a strong regional player with offices in Liverpool, Manchester and Preston and with expertise in sports law and corporate in particular  saw profits before members’ remuneration and profit share rise 8% in the year to the end of April from £11.2m to £12.1m.

Turnover rose 3% from £29.5n to £30.6m. The firm’s 76 members (equity partners) grew average profits from £151,491 to £159,810.

Brabners Chaffe Street grew its employee numbers from 296 to 314 during the year. Of this number 154 are legal staff, up from 146 the year before.

Commenting on the results, managing partner Mark Brandwood said: “With both turnover and profits showing a very respectable increase from the previous year, these accounts reflect a strong performance from all departments in the firm.”

During the year the firm reduced its bank borrowings in the form of loans and overdraft from £3.6m to £3.2m.
