Altrincham’s Cresta Court changes hands

DERBYSHIRE-based hotels business Longrose Buccleuch has bought a Best Western hotel in Altrincham.

It has acquired the freehold and the operating company for the 140-bed Cresta Court in Church Street from Harrop Hotels.

Harrop bought the site out of administration in 2010.

The value of the transaction was not disclosed but described as a “multi-million” pound deal.

Longrose Buccleuch said it planned to spend several million on an upgrade at the site which also has conference facilities for 300 people. It will continue to operate within the Best Western network.

Director of operations Garin Davies said: “The hotel has a long history within the south Manchester area and will be a great asset to our company. With the upgrades that we have planned it will improve the Hotel’s appeal to both local corporate users and local people looking to celebrate weddings and other special events.

“The hotel has exceptional business potential, with its easy access to Manchester city centre and Manchester Airport making it a great choice for commercial travellers, conference buyers and leisure visitors to both Manchester and Cheshire. Our plans are very much to work with the Hotel team and return the Cresta Court to its status as a premier hotel in the region.”

Longrose Buccleuch is part of the Edinburgh-based Buccleuch Group.
