NW Business Masters 2013: Manufacturers to the fore

THEBUSINESSDESK.COM is celebrating the success of the North West’s manufacturing sector at its annual Business Masters Awards.

The award reflects the strength and depth of the sector in this region, which spans chemicals, aerospace, textiles and automotive and employs nearly 400,000 people, generating more than £21bn a year.

The North West Masters award for manufacturing 2012 went to Stockport-based military bridge manufacturer WFEL.

The award served as an appetiser for the company’s main event of 2012 – a sale to German industrial giant Krauss-Maffei Wegmann in a deal worth around £60m.

The 2013 North West Manufacturer award is open to large and small businesses, who will be judged across a range of criteria including product innovation, success in new markets and investment in training and development of employees.

The lunch-time event, to be held on April 25 at the five-star Lowry Hotel in Salford, is a fresh alternative to other business awards events. With just six awards, the focus is on quality, not quantity, and also offers fantastic  networking opportunities.

Confirmed sponsors for the 2013 Business Masters include international airline Etihad, leading law firm Weightmans and accountants and business advisers masters 2013 logoBaker Tilly.

North West Manufacturer is one of six awards which will be announced on the day. The others are:

North West Ambassador: Greatest contribution to business in the region
North West Newcomer: Best new business initiative.
North West Pride: Most meaningful philanthropic initiative by a business, organisation or leader
North West Innovator: Most creative product, idea or original business thinking
North West Exporter: Recognising outstanding success in international markets
