Leahy to preview International Festival of Business

FORMER Tesco chief Sir Terry Leahy and UK Trade & Investment minister Lord Green will bang the drum for Liverpool next week at a London preview of its International Festival of Business.

The 61-day festival promises to attract 250,000 visitors to the city for hundreds of events in June and July next year.

The preview on Monday will reveal the first details of the big events that will “form the backbone” of the festival.

As well as Lord Green and Liverpool-born Sir Terry there will be presentations from Lord Bilimoria, chairman of Cobra Beer; Charles Morgan of the Morgan Motor Company; and Julie Meye, chief executive of Ariadne Capital.

Liverpool Mayor Joe Anderson said: “We are immensely proud that Liverpool will host the International Festival for Business 2014. The festival will highlight the important role of major cities and city regions in driving economic growth, which is vital for Britain’s recovery.

“As host city of the International Festival for Business in 2014, Liverpool will consolidate its position as a world-class hub for business.”
