MediaMix: McCann picks up Marisota brief, Peppermint, Shearings and more

MARKETING agency McCann Manchester has been appointed to handle the brand strategy and creative work for Marisota – JD Williams’ women’s wear brand.

Last Autumn McCann Manchester was appointed to handle brand strategy for JD Williams’ Jacamo brand. JD Williams is part of the Manchester-based group N Brown.
 
Marisota is a brand for larger size clothes targeting women in their thirties and forties. The appointment follows a competitive pitch process.

WIGAN-based Shearings Holidays has reported a surge in bookings following the launch of its January TV ad campaign.

It said new customers account for over 90% of bookings made in direct response to the TV ad which was made by ITV’s in house team.  

The 30 second ad highlighted Shearings’ UK and European coach, air and river cruise holidays, and aired in selected ITV1 regions and on ITV3 nationwide throughout January 2013.

It is the first time that Shearings has invested in TV advertising to take advantage of January – the peak booking period for the travel industry.

Caroline Brown, commercial director for Shearings, said: “By investing in a broader range of marketing channels, including TV, we are reaching a new audience for Shearings.  The investment has paid off, with sales increasing across all booking channels.”

PEPPERMINT PR, the Hale-based marketing firm, has won six new accounts.
 
The clients are: North West-based architects, Fletcher-Rae (UK); commercial and civil litigation law firm, Connell Associates; home furnishings retailer, Ena Shaw; Genie and the Geek, an online marketplace business; healthcare recruitment specialists, CRG; and Island Cuisine, which manufactures a range of cook-in sauces.

Jean-Philippe Glaskie, managing director at Peppermint, said: “We have very ambitious plans for growth in 2013 and are gunning to build exponentially on the success of the last 12 months.

Peppermint said turnover grew by 23% last year.

3D modelling and graphic design company SouthernGFX is set to expand its operations.

The firm, based in Frodsham, Cheshire, has worked on projects for clients including Sky Sports, Disney, Adidas, Nike and B&Q.

It has moved into new premises at Frodsham Business Centre and plans to add to its design team.

Managing director Glen Southern said: “The price and layout of the studio at Frodsham Business Centre is perfect for a company of our size and will enable us to expand our operations with immediate effect.

“The studio gives us space for up to seven onsite designers and illustrators and is now equipped with the latest technology so everything is now in place to take on new creative staff in 2013.”
